planted_logo_pSearching for a job can be a real pain in the… you know what. Any app that can make that process easier would be a welcomed blessing. Now I’m not looking for a job, I love what I do and where I work. However, I know not everyone is there yet, so check out my review of Planted. Hopefully it will help you find a place where you can grow your career.

I’ll start with what I didn’t like about Planted. I have yet to find job listings in Nebraska, or really anywhere near Nebraska. I did find one job that would let me work from home, if you count that. Your results may vary, that’s just what I experienced. I read that the creators of Planted are focusing on larger metro areas, so this is expected. I had a number of job possibilities in Washington D.C. and New York, but that might be because of my profile.

Apart from that, this app is slick. It’s a lot easier to set up than I expected. I added my resume, a picture, and some basic information in no time at all. Applying for a job was easy and if I did not like a job, it was a simple swipe to remove it from my list. They even notify me on my phone and email when there are new jobs.

Planted claims that the app learns what types of jobs you are interested in and delivers more of those jobs. In my experience this worked well. Not sure how it will do long term, say if you find something and come back a few years later. But right now, I give it an A for user interface!

Planted partners with some larger organizations to generate opportunities inside the app. On their site it says there is a “signing bonus” if you accept a job via their app. I can’t speak to how much that is, or really if it is true, but hey, who wouldn’t love to get a signing bonus to help offset moving costs if you are headed to another city.

Basically, if you are looking to stay in Nebraska or move to a small community, this app is not for you. If you want a tech-related job in a large metro area, then this app could be a huge asset in your search.
