Many options are available to help you pay for college including financial aid. Follow these steps to begin the process.

Learn about types of financial aid

Grants are based on financial aid and are not repaid. They include:

• Pell Grant
• Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
• State grants
• College-based grants

Work-Study, also based on financial need, allows you to earn money while attending college. You get paid for hours worked, so don't expect money up-front to pay tuition.

Student loans are a type of financial aid you must repay. They inclue:

• Perkins Loan
• Subsidized Stafford Loan (referred to as a Subsidized Direct Loan at some colleges)
• Unsubsidized Stafford Loan (referred to as an unsubsidized Direct Loan at some colleges)
• PLUS Loan
