Breakout Session Topics
The event will feature 20 breakout sessions designed to provide practical college access information. Many of the sessions will highlight college access programs and activities developed by your peer high schools using College Access Grant funding.
Session topics will include:
- Using social media to improve college access
- Planning effective college visits for high school students
- College access activities for Hispanic students and families
- Making the most of EducationQuest’s website and web tools
- Financial Aid 101
- Involving families in the college planning process
- Building a test prep program at your school
- Finding business partners for your college access efforts
- Integrating college access programming into your curriculum, including college access events
- How to engage eighth grade students in college and career planning
- KnowHow2GO activities for 8th, 9th and 10th grade students
- Learning the strengths and weaknesses of the iY Generation (middle school students)
- How high schools and community agencies can work together to ensure college access
- Dual credit enrollment as a college access tool
- Helping adult learners get on the path to college
- Personal finance for high school students
- Making sure high school graduates avoid ‘summer melt’ and attend college in the fall
- Learning about careers of the future and their educational requirements
- Searching and applying for scholarships
