<p><a href="http://www.educationquest.org/symposium/registration"><img class="alignright" style="margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;" title="College Access Symposium" src="http://www.educationquest.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/CASymposium_article.png" alt="Click here to Register" width="200" height="250" /></a>EducationQuest Foundation&#8217;s<strong> </strong><em>College Access Symposium is </em>Tuesday, March 27 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.</p>
<p><strong>Online registration is closed</strong>, but you are welcome to attend the event. Check-in at the registration table. <strong><em></em></strong></p>
<p>Those encouraged to attend this <strong><em>free </em></strong>event include middle school and high school guidance counselors, community agency professionals, principals, superintendents, and others interested in helping middle school students, high school students and adult learners make college possible.</p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #333333;"> Nebraska high schools interested in applying for an EducationQuest <em>College Access Grant </em>are required to send a representative to this event.</span><strong><br /></strong></span></p>
<p>This “super-sized” event combines the best of EducationQuest training sessions including <em>College Access Training </em>for community agency personnel and <em>Early College Awareness Training</em>. </p>
<p>The <em>Symposium </em>will include general sessions along with break-out sessions tailored to middle school professionals, high school professionals and agency professionals.</p>

<p>In November and December, EducationQuest awarded mini-grants (up to $1,000 each) to 29 Nebraska schools that serve eighth grade students.<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-7878" style="margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 15px; margin-right: 15px;" title="minigrantwinners" src="http://www.educationquest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/minigrantwinners-221x300.jpg" alt="" width="221" height="300" /></p>
<p>Schools selected in November are <strong>Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools</strong>; <strong>Bluffs Middle School, Scottsbluff</strong>; <strong>Burwell Jr.-Sr. High School</strong>; <strong>Centennial Public School</strong>; <strong>Crawford Public School</strong>, <strong>Culler Middle School, Lincoln</strong>; <strong>Emerson-Hubbard Schools</strong>; <strong>Gering Junior High</strong>; <strong>Lefler Middle School, Lincoln</strong>; <strong>Madison Middle School</strong>; <strong>Oakland-Craig Public Schools</strong>; <strong>Stuart Public School</strong>; <strong>Valentine Middle School</strong>; <strong>West Point-Beemer Jr. Sr. High School</strong>; and <strong>Wisner-Pilger Jr. Sr. High School</strong>. </p>
<p>Schools selected in December are <strong>Beveridge Magnet Middle School, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Bryan Middle School, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Crete Middle School</strong>; <strong>Greeley-Wolbach Public Schools</strong>; <strong>Harvard Public School</strong>; <strong>Johnson County Central Middle School, Cook</strong>; <strong>McMillan Magnet Center, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Monroe Middle School, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Morrill Public Schools</strong>; <strong>Morton Magnet Middle School, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Nathan Hale Magnet Middle School, Omaha</strong>; <strong>Niobrara Public School</strong>; <strong>Schuyler Middle School</strong>; and <strong>Walthill Public School</strong>.</p>
<p>Through the funding, eighth graders at selected schools will go on at least one campus visit and participate in activities related to college access, such as creating an <em>Activities Resume</em>, exploring careers that require higher education, and learning about financial aid and scholarships. This effort is part of EducationQuest’s 8th, 9th, and 10th Grade Initiative, funded by the federal College Access Challenge Grant,  with the goal to increase the overall college-going rate in the state.</p>
