EducationQuest Foundation Awards Over $290,000 in Community Grants --

In Lexington, 29 of the 89 Hispanic students enrolled in 12th grade during
1999-2000 dropped out before graduation. The Dawson County Extension Office
hopes to improve those numbers through Building Community Capacity, a
new program that helps Hispanic students build the self-confidence and
leadership skills needed to attain their educational goals. The program was
developed with the help of a $20,000 grant from EducationQuest Foundation.

EducationQuest Programs Address Shortage of State-Based Financial Aid --

Publicity from a recent national study, "Measuring Up 2002," shows that
Nebraska continues to receive low marks in college affordability, due in part
to a shortage of state-based financial aid. EducationQuest Foundation, formerly
the Foundation for Educational Funding, has helped address the shortage by
providing over $2 million in need-based scholarship funds to hundreds of
Nebraskans since 1998.
