November 8, 2002) - Publicity from a recent national study, "Measuring Up 2002," shows that Nebraska continues to receive low marks in college affordability, due in part to a shortage of state-based financial aid. EducationQuest Foundation, formerly the Foundation for Educational Funding, has helped address the shortage by providing over $2 million in need-based scholarship funds to hundreds of Nebraskans since 1998.

"EducationQuest is concerned with college access issues for all Nebraskans and we designed our scholarship programs to help low-income students in particular," said EducationQuest President Liz Fieselman.

These programs include the Foundation's Educational Award Program and Reaching Your Potential Scholarship Program that provided nearly $900,000 for Nebraska's low-income students over the past year.

As part of its mission to improve access to higher education in Nebraska, EducationQuest also provides free college planning services at its locations in Kearney, Lincoln, and Omaha, and provides community grants to nonprofit organizations with programs that enhance college access.
