Governor Heineman will help Fall City students KnowHow2GO to college

(LINCOLN, Nebraska, September 26, 2007) – Governor Dave Heineman will visit his hometown of Falls City Thursday, September 27 to talk to students about the importance of going to college. His presentation is part of a "pep rally" event at Falls City High School based on the KnowHow2GO college-access campaign.

KnowHow2GO is a national campaign that promotes four steps 8th - 10th graders need to follow to make college a reality. EducationQuest Foundation is coordinating the campaign in Nebraska and has conducted KnowHow2GO pep rally events at schools across the state.

The pep rally event will inform students about the four KnowHow2GO steps:

1. Be a pain - in a good way. Ask an adult to help guide you to college and keep asking until you find someone who will.
2. Push yourself. Take rigorous coursework in high school and get involved in extracurricular activities.
3. Find the right fit. Discover colleges that match your career interests and skills.
4. Put your hands on some cash. Apply for scholarships and financial aid.

Others involved in the event are Ashley Bauer, Miss Nebraska; Gale Dunkhas, Principal of Falls City High School; Brett Balak, Associate Director of Admissions at Nebraska Wesleyan University; Les Monroe, Director of College Planning at EducationQuest Foundation; and David Duzik, College Planning Specialist at EducationQuest.

The KnowHow2GO pep rally event is part of a full day of college-access activities at Falls City High School coordinated by Guidance Counselor Sara Barker.

EducationQuest will also conduct KnowHow2GO pep rally events at Ogallala High School and Horizon Middle School in Kearney on October 9; Lewis and Clark Middle School in Omaha on October 19; and North Star High School in Lincoln on November 14.
