Advisory Council Members
Advisory Council helps with efforts to improve access to higher education
(Lincoln, Nebraska, April 13, 2007) - EducationQuest Foundation has named four new members to its Advisory Council – a group of 16 statewide education and community representatives who advise EducationQuest on programs and services that support its mission of improving access to higher education in Nebraska.
The new members are Nancy Bond, Supervisor of Guidance and Counseling for Omaha Public Schools; Dr. Gustavo Carlo, Professor of Development Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha; David Cicotello, Director of New Student Enrollment Services at the University of Nebraska at Omaha; and Jere’ Sue Schroer, Counselor at Horizon and Sunrise Middle Schools in Kearney. They will help EducationQuest identify obstacles to higher education; brainstorm and prioritize college-access programs, services and needs; and serve on a scholarship or grant review committee.
“Our new members bring their own unique experience and perspective to the Council,” said EducationQuest President Liz Fieselman. “Their input will be invaluable as we evaluate and expand our programs.”
EducationQuest, a private, nonprofit organization headquartered in Lincoln, provides free college planning services at its locations in Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha; funds need-based scholarship programs; provides grants that help high schools increase their college-going rate; and provides outreach services for statewide community agencies.
Others serving on the Advisory Council are Joyce Baumert, Schuyler Central High School; Jim Bovee, Clay Center High School; Tom Melecki, Ph.D., National Student Loan Program, Lincoln; Dora Olivares, Gering High School; Sam Rennick, Hastings College; Bill Reno, Alliance High School; Vaughn Robertson, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Larry Scherer, Nebraska State Education Association; Dolores Simpson-Kirkland, Ph.D., Lincoln Southwest High School, Lincoln; Rebecca Valdez, Chicano Awareness Center, Omaha; Doug Watson, Midland Lutheran College, Fremont; and Joan Zanders, Northeast Community College, Norfolk.
