Symposium to Address College Access Trends

EducationQuest bringing in national, statewide experts

(LINCOLN Neb. April 6, 2006) – High school representatives from across the state will learn about national and statewide college access trends during EducationQuest Foundation's College Access Symposium Tuesday, April 11 at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Lincoln.

The Symposium will feature national and statewide experts in the areas of college access. Christina Milano, Executive Director of the National College Access Network will discuss National Perspectives on College Access; Wendy Ault, Executive Director of the MELMAC Education Foundation will discuss Practical Techniques for Increasing the College-Going Rate; and Larry Scherer, Assistant Executive Director of Research and Collective Bargaining for the Nebraska State Education Association will speak on College Access Trends in Nebraska.

The event will also feature sessions that address college access challenges for Latino students, rural students and first-generation students along with a panel discussion with Nebraska college representatives on how to better prepare students for college.

EducationQuest is conducting the Symposium as part of its mission to improve access to higher education in Nebraska.
