As a guidance counselor, you play a vital role in helping students transition from high school to college. Since school budgets often do not allow for professional development, EducationQuest Foundation created the Guidance Counselor Enrichment Scholarship to provide counselors with resources they need to help students access higher education.

Questions

In 2010, EducationQuest awarded six scholarships to fund attendance at college and career-planning conferences.

• Two counselors will attend the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling (GPACAC) Conference on April 11-13, 2010 in Overland Park, KS.
• Two counselors will attend the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Conference on September 30-October 2, 2010 in St. Louis, MO.
• Two counselors will attend the Careers Conference in late January/early February 2011 – Madison, WI.

Each scholarship will cover the cost of conference registration, transportation, and hotel accommodations.

All Nebraska high school guidance counselors are eligible to apply. Membership in conference-related organizations is not required. You may indicate a preference for any or all conferences but can receive only one scholarship.

Selection is based on your response to the essay questions on the application. Preference points are awarded to applicants who have never attended the conference for which they are applying or last attended before January 1, 2005.

Applications were due to be postmarked or submitted online by February 1, 2010. Applicants were notified of the results on March 5, 2010.
