Agenda

8:30 am – 9:00 am Registration and Continental Breakfast

Session 1
9:00 am – 10:15 am EducationQuest Foundation Services and Online Tools
  Presented by: EducationQuest Staff
EducationQuest's free programs, services, and online tools will help your clients get on the right path to college. And our "KnowHow2GO Playbook" is a resource you can use to help younger students make college a reality.

10:15 am – 10:30 am Break

Session 2
10:30 am – 11:30 am Parallels of First-Generation Students and Students with Disabilities
Presented by: Chad T. Weber, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Students who come from homes where neither parent went to college and students with disabilities often face similar struggles. To effectively serve these populations, it's important to understand those struggles along with the expectations (or lack thereof) placed upon them by society.

Session 3
11:30 am – 12:15 pm A Scholarship for Success
  Presented by: EducationQuest Scholarship Staff
The EducationQuest Reaching Your Potential Scholarship Program targets students who face obstacles to higher education. By referring your clients to the program, you can help them achieve their educational dreams.

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch (complimentary)

Session 4
1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Get In Where You Fit In–Incorporating College Access Programs Into Your Afterschool Programs
Presented by: Kainette Jones, Teen Program Specialist and Mentoring Coordinator for Girls, Inc.
Some students require special attention to ensure they're following the steps to get to college. A successful afterschool program is a great setting to encourage these youth to pursue their college and career dreams.

Session 5
1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Providing Access to Education and Training for Nebraska's Farm Workers
Presented by: NAF Multicultural Human Development Corporation
Many seasonal and migrant workers may want to seek a better life through education and training - and NAF could help them do that through services and financial support.

2:00 pm – 2:15 pm Break

Session 6
2:15 pm – 3:15 pm Student Financial Aid–101
  Presented by: EducationQuest Staff
"I can't afford it" isn't an acceptable excuse for not going to college. By understanding the types of financial aid and how to apply, you can help your clients find money to finance higher education.
