Sign up!Why you should “be a pain!”

So…you’re pretty sure you want to go to college, but you may not know how to make it happen. Would you believe that the best way to get started is to BE A PAIN – but in a good way?

Tell everyone you know that you want to go to college. Tell your parents, older siblings, relatives, teachers, guidance counselor, coach, mentor…you get the idea. Ask them to help guide you to college – and keep asking until you find someone who will.

This person can help you:

  • register for high school courses that will prepare you for college
  • think about careers that fit your skills and interests
  • research colleges that fit your career interests
  • go on campus visits
  • apply for college and financial aid

If you can’t find someone to help you, see the “Find help near you” section.

This is one time it’s okay to be a pain!

Don’t be a “Dorfman”

Take a few minutes to watch EducationQuest’s “College Doesn’t Just Happen” video to learn what you should and shouldn’t do to get to college. You’ll find the video in the “KnowHow2GO to College section”

The video tells the story of two young men who visit their high school five years after graduating. One made it to college because he followed the advice of his coach. The other young man, Travis Dorfman, didn’t listen to the coach’s advice and now his life is going nowhere. Check it out!
